CITY WIDE EXTERMINATING AWARDS THIRD ANNUAL STEVEN R. SMITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Locust, NC – City Wide Exterminating proudly announces the recipient of the 2024 Steven R. Smith Memorial Scholarship. Established in 2022 to commemorate the memory of Locust’s esteemed chief of police, Steven Smith, this scholarship embodies City Wide’s commitment to honoring his legacy within the community.
President Ashley Morrison remarks, “The Smith family is integral to our City Wide family. This scholarship serves as our heartfelt tribute and a testament to honoring his family, preserving his memory, and celebrating the lasting mark he left on our community.” The annual scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors in the greater Charlotte metro area, focusing on academic achievement, character, and community engagement.
This year’s deserving recipient is Ashtyn Webb, a 2024 graduate of West Stanly High School. Ashtyn intends to pursue a nursing degree at Stanly Community College starting this fall. Melissa Smith, Chief Smith’s wife, reflects, “Steven's goal was consistently to enact positive change in the communities he served and beyond. His ability to inspire others to pursue their passions was unparalleled, and I'm certain he would be profoundly moved by this recognition."
